Buckethead Form

includes

  • pointed trowel for releasing and carving
  • additional bucket (with bottom intact) for carrying water

Sure, you could make one of these yourself from any old bucket. We even encourage it... scroll on down for step-by-step instructions: Cheap bucket + duct tape and you are good to go.

But these have become populat items during our lessons and people beg to buy them from us, which is why we are offering them as part of the Big Kahuna Set. But if you just have to have the form without the rest of the set, who am I to deny you?

Bucket Form

$15.50

The bucket-head form can be made from pretty much any cheap plastic bucket. It is superior to sand castle moulds because you can add water and pack the form from the top.

1. Cut the bottom out of the bucket
2. Reinforce the cut edge with duct tape - this will prolong the life of your form and allow you to use it over and over again.
3. Place empty bucket handle-side down (tapered end on top) on a packed mound of sand
4. Pack moist sand around the bottom to keep water from running out around the edges
5. Fill about a third of the way up with dry or moist sand
6. Add enough water to saturate, mix thoroughly
7. Poke holes in settled sand with trowel or spade, then add more water -- make sure there are no dry spots
8 .Repeat steps 5-7 until form is filled

9. Finish with a layer of dry sand
10. Beat with hands like bongo drum!
11. Tap form sides with trowel, spade or similar implement all the way around to release vacuum

12. Gently lift form from sand cylinder

A bucket is just about the right size for a head.

Alternatively, you can handstack a tower on top of the formed cylinder. It is best to build the handstack before you remove the form.
