Prepare surface: Make sure wall is as flat, smooth and vertical as you can make it -- from very wet sand.

Tips: Don't gouge! Run gently over same spot repeatedly, shaving away thin layers of sand. For best results, position columns under overhanging ledges.To make column stand out more re-carve the grooves using small door tool.
